I moved to Lisbon for many reasons, but one of the bigger reasons was to be able to surf more frequently. Luckily last year, I came across Go Surf Lisboa and lucked out to find the best surf school in the Lisbon area in my first go (in my humble opinion).
Go Surf offers a complete surf experience! They pick you up in Lisbon, right in the metro station of Cais do Sodre. They play perfectly curated surf vibes music, as you drive across the bridge and over to Praia do Castelo, where the main surf beach is located.

Filipe started the surf school on his own in 2013. Filipe started teaching surfing in 2001, when he was 22 years old, already with a level 1 surfing instructor course. In 2008, he completed his university degree in sports and then completed the Level 2 surf instructor course. Today, Filipe has grown a strong team of surf instructors to guide beginners and intermediate surfers into their next surf level. All of the surf instructors are caring, thoughtful, and strongly skilled to help you based on your level. No matter your level, you will be taken care of at Go Surf.

When you arrive at the surf lodge, they will provide a bucket to put your belongings in. They provide the wetsuits and will recommend a board size based on your experience level. Then, it’s time to enjoy the waves! If Robson is around during your lesson, you may get some good action shots of you trying surf and he offers the pictures for a price at the end of your lesson.

The surf lodge is located right beside a popular beach club, Irmão, so after your surf lesson, I’d recommend picking up a take out pizza or a gelato and enjoy the beach.
As a Lisbon resident now, I feel lucky to be able to surf with Go Surf once or twice a week. I am consistently getting better at my surfing and all the instructors are super encouraging of my progress.
